Customer Rating: Summary: You Can Fix It! Comment: If the round piece on the back of the case has separated from the case, DON'T go out and buy another right away. Here's how to fix it - and it will be better than new:
On the back of the case, you'll see the stud from which the round piece has unscrewed and fallen off. You'll notice you can't screw it back on! It has a raised square part that fits into the hole, preventing it from turning.
Remove the phone, and inside the case you'll find a soft circle in the middle. Push it in from the outside and you'll have the screw and washer. It's a little Phillips head screw, exactly like the extra screw included with some of the cases. It fits through a large fender washer which fills up the circle inside the case. The washer and the screw head are covered with a thin layer of soft material to protect the phone.
Scrape off the soft material, and you'll see the head of the screw. You might want to use a little solvent to remove the excess glue on top of the washer. You won't have to replace the soft material, because the screw head and washer are recessed sufficiently so that they shouldn't scratch the back of the phone. If you're a true perfectionist, you might want to paint the top and edge of the washer with a little black paint or a black Sharpie.
What you're going to do is hold the round piece in place, and screw in the Phillips head screw from the inside.
But first, notice that there are deposits of something all around the inside surfaces, which appear to be perhaps an epoxy of some sort. Before you screw it back together, apply some Locktite to the screw, and some epoxy, or strong glue to the hidden mating surfaces. Tighten it securely and you're all set!
One final important note: *Even with a brand new case*, periodically test the round piece by gently trying to turn it left or right. If it's even a little loose, take it apart and perform the above procedure.
For my part, I'd rather not risk losing my phone, or do regular maintenance on the case! So I chose to have it out of a case when I'm using it, and, when I'm finished, I put it in a Naztech or Prima case on my belt. Naztech is big and tough, Prima is smaller and a little more classy.
Those cases are a bit more expensive, but when the phone is on my belt, safe in the Naztech "Gladiator II", other than rotating it to the 'open' position, you'd have to open two heavy-duty snaps underneath - or cut the belt - before you could get the case!
Customer Rating: Summary: Overall, well designed Comment: Overall the case is well designed. However, the swivel on the back of the case (that attaches to the belt clip) fell off within a few days of use. Based on feedback from other customers, this may be a common issue. I contacted the seller and they promptly sent a replacement at their cost, which I just received. So I don't yet if the new one will have the swivel issue. I need to contact the seller to find out their warranty duration in case I have further issues.
Customer Rating: Summary: Just like the one in the ATT store...for a lot less Comment: It is just like the one in the store - nice quality and perfect fit for about half the price (including shipping). One person said the round thing fell off her case. Mine came with a little screw and a mini-screwdriver. Since there were no directions included, I screwed it into the hole in the round thing (only place that it fit)and maybe that is what is supposed to keep the round thing from falling off...??
Customer Rating: Summary: Very sturdily built, but...... Comment: I purchased the first one. I was extremely impressed. It's an absolute perfect fit for the v3xx! The case seams almost industrial. It's heavily stitched, the belt clip is very heavy duty. The first one though, the round part on the back ended up coming off. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty abusive to these things, so I accepted responsibility for breaking it. I was impressed enough I have bought a second one to replace it and it is doing absolutely fine. I saw some reviews that said it didn't fit quire right, keep in mind this is for the V3XX NOT the V3. Their dimensions are quite different. For the V3xx it's a PERFECT FIT and is extremely well built. You'll be happy with your purchase. It is exactly as it looks in the photos. The only reason I took a star away was the first clip broke, but again, it may very well have been my fault. I just think as well as it was built it should have taken the abuse.
Customer Rating: Summary: excellent product Comment: this is the case that cingular sells. they, however, sell it for $30! it is a great case, because it's a hard case, but soften by the leather. the leather is not cheap either; it's the good kind. the case gives ample protection from drops or scratches. it's easy to assemble, coming in two pieces, which you simply snap into place onto the phone. the only complaint i see some people having is there's no protective see-thru cover for the small front screen or the actual phone screen. however, this was not a priority for me. the phone comes with the usual clip on, and a new thing of the ring clip. i, however, was merely interested in that the phone had the clip, so the ring is an added bonus. and finally, in my opinion after searching for a weeks for the "perfect" case, i must say this is it.
