Customer Rating: Summary: fun, but predictable mystery Comment: Searching for glass eyeballs was not the highest point in the game. The games were just challenging enough that they frustrate you, but easy enough that you don't spend a super long time on them (nancy drew fans: think of the spinning rooms in Blackmoor Manor. eek!). The start was enough to send my little sister running off, screaming. It is a creepier one, but not too too creepy. The storyline is sort of slow, and the culprit was SOOOO predictable. I won't ruin it for you who want to buy it, but still...this game was very frustrating and very fun. I wouldn't recommend this one, as it is a tad bit more annoying than it is satisfying.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nancy Drew and a missing crystal skull. Comment: Another Nancy Drew game from herintractive. In this one, Nancy and her friend Bess, go to New Orleans to have a holiday. Nancy's boyfriend Ned wants Nancy to visit a friend of his. So off Nancy goes to visit Henry Bolet Jr. Henry's uncle Bruno has recently passed away, leaving Henry in charge of his estate. There are a few interesting characters to meet here: Henry, the housekeeper Renee, Bruno's friend Dr Gilbert Buford
and a storeowner, Lamont Warrick.
The game itself is centred on Nancy finding out what happened to Bruno (Did he die of natural causes or was he murdered?), and what happened to the crystal skull - believed to protect its owner from death - that belonged to Bruno. There are lots of puzzles to solve, different places to go, and people to see. I found the game hard at times especially with the puzzles, but other times, the interaction with the characters was really interesting and fun. Playing Bess as well as Nancy was a good move, and something fun to do!
Overall, this is a really good game!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Fun Comment: Loved this Nancy Drew mystery. Fun and challenging puzzles, Nothing tedious or repetitive. Kept me on the edge wanting more.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very creepy! Comment: This Nancy Drew game was very good, but very creepy. Everything was dark and the rainy atmosphere sent shivers up my spine! Every character seemed to be hiding dark secrets. The puzzles were very challenging and I loved the graveyard riddles. The graveyard is very spooky, and the house is filled with shimmering candles that make for very, very creepy atmosphere! Another super cool feature is you can switch back and forth between Nancy at the mansion and Bess in the heart of New Orleans. It was very fun sampling gumbo and sneaking into secret meetings as Bess, although I wish there were more things to do in New Orleans and more background info.
I really felt sorry for Henry, he seemed depressed and needed to get rid of his nasty girlfriend! The mansion seemed unfinished and only has a few rooms, a living room, office, the housekeeper's bedroom, a secret room, and a tiny bare bedroom(if Henry lives in that tiny cell I wouldn't blame him for being depressed!!). We can only hope that there are whole suites of rooms we aren't allowed to explore.
Even though it is a very fun and challenging game I wouldn't recommend it to younger players because of the extremely spooky atmosphere.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good! Creepy and Intriguing Comment: Take the advice in the beginning. Play this with the lights off, and Halloween is coming up, it's a great day to play it (I've tried it on Halloween, it was terrifyingly great.)
This game is another great addition to the ND series, and HerInteractive did it justice. It's set in New Orleans, in an eerie mansion and a great mystery to solve.. Time for Nancy to get endangered and solve another mystery again!
Pros
-Gets spookier as it goes along
-Pretty good graphics, not the best, but still pretty good (HerInteractive is great at it.)
-Great characters (I personally love Henry)
-Keeps you at the edge of your seat
-Still has your notebook
-No need to worry about time or going to bed by your bedtime! You don't see your own bed once in the game.
-SO much better music than its predecessor, Icicle Creek (IC didn't have much music at all in fact.)
-Your cell is back and perky! You can call anyone, anywhere (almost.)
Cons
-Puzzles were OK at best. I like puzzles, but honestly? There's a part in the game where you have a string of difficult puzzles! I got lazy in the middle and used a walkthrough, and gave a sigh of relief when I had something else to do. Then again, if you like that kind of thing, this is a good game for you.
-I generally don't like those games where you switch back and forth between Nancy and some other person. This is one of those games. Bess is alright, but... I just prefer to keep Nancy as the main character you play, rather than add more people.
-(Don't worry, no spoilers here.) The ending is kind of unsatisfying. The final chase is mediocre, at best, and before that was a weird matching puzzle. Of course, it's always scary to be running away from someone and having to get a few second chances (in Shadow Ranch, my hands were shaking...)but in the end, it's SUPER satisfying when you beat the game. This one was kind of like... Old Clock, or Danger by Design in it's ending type. Nothing that gets your heart beating too fast... it's kind of unfitting, when the other parts of the game were pretty scary at parts.
Conclusion
Overall pretty good, but some things that don't satisfy me at least. Good for a scary game if you need one, and is quite a bit different from some of the other ND games. Nice one, HerInteractive.
Thanks for reading!
