Customer Rating: Summary: Navigon 5100 GPS review Comment: Great buy for the money. I bought one for my parents and one for my daughter and son-in-law. I plugged it in before I gave them as gifts and was pleased with the possible exception that it doesn't sound like the voice has a very high volume. Hopefully, that won't be an issue when it is used. Customer Rating: Summary: Not as good as I hoped Comment: It is not as helpful as i hoped it would be. For starters, the POI's are extremely limited. It did not even find a certain starbucks! Additionally, I expected it to be able to find places,(based on its name and not an address, i.e. "Carvel") in a given area, but it is not able to do so. The input buttons are small and slow. As for the traffice updates, the one time it picked up a supposed traffic alert on a highway it ended up being incorrect information. Overall, I'm not so pleased with it. Customer Rating: Summary: Good product for it's price Comment: This is a great product from Navigon with lot of pros and few cons ;-) Pros - 1) Realtime view - This is an awesome feature that is only provided by Navigon which shows number of lanes (exactly same as fwy boards), I just love it. 2) Speed limit - Gives a Caution indication to driver if speed is exceeded by 5/10/15/20 miles. (we can set the warning) 3) Turn by turn list - Gives turn by turn with street name with 1/2 mile remaining towards the turn. 4) 2D/3D view - Excellent 2/3D views. We can set Day/Night display mode. 5) Traffic Indication - Excellent feature, saves a lot of time if there is a traffic on FWY and asks if you want to opt for alternative route. 6) POI's - Number of POI's to search as well as they are displayed on screen while driving. (This saves time to search). 7) Excellent looks, excellent windshield Cons- 1) Takes time to start and to load maps. For me it has always shown me insufficient signal when I switch it on. But after 5-7 mins, it's good to go. So better switch it on sometime earlier. 2) Takes time while recalculating, to display turn by turn list. 3) Tapping on the Screen is not so easy, u have to press hard...i'm not sure but may be I'm still facing that problem Overall, this is a great product for it's price. I'm enjoying it. :-) Customer Rating: Summary: Garmin is better~! Comment: Seriously, if you have any brains you'll spend a few extra dollars and buy a Garmin. You can get a 265t with free traffic for about an extra $50, and that is money well spent!! The Navigon is plagued with a terrible speaker, made worse by the garbled voice that is installed in the unit. Plus I had the newest maps from Navigon, and it still didn't have my road on there, despite the road being 2 years old, Garmin had it right out of the box! Garmin has a great speaker, with clear voices, and you can customize just about everything very easily, whereas with the Navigon you have to search on various sites to try and find what you need, and then hope it doesn't crash the unit when you install it. The "reality view" is a joke, it's just a generic picture of a skyline with the proper number of road lanes, and it's a static picture so you can't even see that you are moving, brilliant move Navigon! I had this for a week and realized why the prices on Navigons drop like a lead balloon just a few months after they are released! Customer Rating: Summary: Broke after 9 months Comment: I loved this GPS while it lasted, but it quit after 6 months for absolutely no apparent reason. |
