Customer Rating: Summary: Reread the instruction manual Comment: Iam shocked that so many kindle owners have problems with this book cover.I do have to admit I had problems at first but then went back and read the instruction manual. It clearly states to insert the two left sided corners of the kindle into the book cover and push all the way in and then lightly press the two right sided corners of the kindle down. This will lock the Kindle into the cover securely.Just to double check to see if the Kindle is locked I push on the left side ever so slightly to see if it is lose and it never is.I have only had my Kindle for about a month so I cant say if this cover holds up to normal usage fairly, but it can be replaced.Although I do think twenty five dollars is a bit high for a faux leather cover.
Customer Rating: Summary: Forget the plastic tab Comment: Don't concern yourself with the plastic tab. And certainly forget all about velcro. Just place the K into the cover as seems intuitive, and then slip the attached elastic band down around the lower right corner. Voila, secure.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sadly disappointed in this beta test cover Comment: What were they thinking when the designers created the "corner pockets" to hold the K into place in the cover? Moreover, the plastic "clip" onto which the K is supposed to sit is so totally mis-engineered that it is funny. Watching the K fall onto my lap/bed/floor has become an adventure.
Woe is us who have suffered through this book cover experiment. I only hope that Amazon will compensate us with a new cover/kindle when the engineering department admits that it made a mistake and decides to market the K with a newly generated design and cover.
Is there is anyone out there who can effectively turn on the rear mounted on/off switch without "dislodging" the K from it's cover?????
Oh yes, the leather has a nice feel and the elastic strap does keep the K tucked away safely when not in use.
Customer Rating: Summary: It needs to secure better Comment: I love the size, it looks like a quality product, I like the strap. I like how the cover wraps around like the cover of a book.
What I do not like is that the Kindle will not stay in the cover and it's so frustrating. I have read that some people use velcro which is what I will have to do.
Customer Rating: Summary: lousy customer service Comment: Based on the recommendation of a couple of friends whose opinions I valued I purchased a Kindle particularly for a planned trip to Europe. The biggest draw for me was not having to carry 40 pounds of books with me. On the flight to New York the lady in the window seat asked to be allowed to go to the bathroom. I, of course, gallantly arose and as I did so my new Kindle slide out of the Amazon provided case (as nothing fastens the Kindle to the case) and it fell about 18 inches to the aisle. Upon retreiving my beloved Kindle I found it inoperable and nonfunctional. Fortunately I was able to buy 40 pounds of books at JFK and went on to Europe. Upon my return this week I called the so called Customer Service number and was told that the product warranty did not cover my Kindle but that Amazon out of pure generosity would sell me a remanufactured product for only $180.00. I was incredulous. A poorly designed case and a poorly designed product that cannot withstand modest jarring will not be repaired or replaced by the manufacturer? This is probably the worst customer service policy I have ever experienced and I plan to tell everyone I know and can reach on the internet what a crummy product and lousy service policy Amazon his foisted on the public. I'm done buying books from them too. Larry Luke (lukeatlaw@gmail.com if anyone woudl like to share a similar story)
