Young Jedi can take to the skies in this massive model that kids build themselves. There's 1,366 pieces in all. Once built, click off the top and slide back the command bridge for access to the Destroyer's interior. Rotate and elevate the gun turrets, push the knob in front to release the escape pod, and open and close the weapon lockers. Explore Darth Vader's meditation chamber, which features a crane that lifts the helmet from a pedestal onto Vader's head as he kneels before Palpatine's hologram. No batteries required.

Customer Rating: Summary: Clever design, lots of fun to build, but the bottom falls out Comment: This was a lot of fun to build. This is our first big Lego set and I was thrilled that all the pieces were in the box. With 1300+ pieces, many of them special, I'm impressed that Lego gets this right. Along the way I thought a piece was missing in the kit but each time it was operator error!
Most of the constructed kit is solid construction. Lego seemed to focus on the frame of the ship for sturdiness. The only drawback is that the bottom of the model is attached weakly to the main structure, and gravity works against the attachments. There are only six connection points involved. On top of that the engines elevates the bottom from the table so this makes the problem worse. I think some reengineering on my part can resolve the issue.
We got this as a door-buster for Thanksgiving so that was the only way we would have bought it - $179 is too much to pay.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome toy but a bit pricey Comment: I got this toy for christmas and I was so excited I could'nt wait. The disign of this toy was Awesome and you can put the three peaple in the launcher except R2-D5. The other pros are that the disigners lable the wrappers, the launcher works, you can open the ship in three easy steps and the disign is great; and the cons are you can't use the robot to take Darth Vader's mask off that well. But, this toy say it's worth it to get and if you have mini figes or if you builded mini figes then it well be a lot more fun. I hope you like it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice to look at, but be cautious in handling... Comment: This Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer (Lego set 6211) is 3.7 x 15.1 x 25.6 inches in size when completed. It reportedly ends up at 5.4 pounds, and has 1366 pieces. When completed, it's a bit on the fragile side.
It took two teenagers three hours to compete from start to finish. This was the first set I've seen that had the parts in numbered plastic bags; the instructions then referred to "bag number X" so you had the right parts in front of you. This made it easier, but the point of making a big Lego set isn't necessarily to make it as fast as possible. A huge part of the fun is in the construction process! I'm not sure I'm a fan of the "parts in numbered bags" concept.
But the finished model looks big and bad! Make sure you have adequate space to display it. It opens up completely so you can see an escape pod, Darth Vader, the armory, the control bridge, and a projection of the Emperor.
The instruction manual comes in two volumes. The box is simply a holder for the plastic parts bags, opening on the end. I like it when you can dump the bags into the main body of the box while making a model. I had to use another box for this purpose. It keeps the parts together, and you hear the music of those Lego pieces rattling against each other as you search for the next piece! Lego enthusiasts, you know what I'm talking about!
So... I like big models for mature Lego enthusiasts. I like them to take longer to build (part of their attraction). I'd like this model to be sturdier. I'd also like it to have a display base that holds it above the table.
But it's Star Wars and Legos... what else can I say!? This one was made while watching Episode I, not Episode IV that introduced the Star Destroyer. Maybe that was my mistake!
Customer Rating: Summary: Star Destroyer Comment: This toy was bought for my son, age 7, and he loves it. It was a good challenge for him to put it together, but that is always part of the fun with Legos. We would definitely recommend this toy.
Customer Rating: Summary: overpriced!! Comment: This set is a pretty neat set. My son loves it! Big news flash for Amazon and it's sellers, though. They are ripping people off!!!
