I called Tiger Direct and I called Apple and both couldn't figure out why it didn't work even though it says on the box that it's Mac compatible. Oh well. I returned it and got credit right away. I saw the /R version [DRXS70U/R] (selling here at Amazon for far more than this model) at my local electronics discounter -- and from comparing what the box for that model says, the only difference from this version is that the /R version has the Nero v8 essentials software. As this is a MS-Windows-only device, and any OS version beginning with XP supports burning CDs (DVDs?) directly, you can decide if that's worth the extra bucks.

Comment: For whatever reason, my new computer with a built in cd/dvd drive would not read a certain game's disks. I had no way to install it. I really wanted to try the game so I figured i'd give this a shot. It worked beautifuly. Plugged it in, no drivers needed to be installed or anything. Put the disk in, bingo, read them perfectly. Smooth, quiet operation. Happy with this purchase! Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good Comment: Was able to plug 'n play without software. Very necessary for the Eee PC 901. Read the disc quickly. Haven't tried to burn anything yet. Very light and portable. Bought a case I thought was suggested for it, but totally didn't fit so I had to return the case. Will probably buy a new one.
