Summary: Solution to a problem
Comment: My situation was an odd one. I had a motherboard that had a 9 pin USB connection. A rectangle box with a row of 5 pins and a row of 4 pins. I had to look it up on the Internet to find out what each pin represented, but basicaly you have a ground on one end and power on the other with communication on the center two pins. The 5th pin on the 5 pin row ends up being another ground. I wanted to add a Cables To Go 4 port USB hub, which mounts in the floppy drive hole, but it only has a regular USB type A plug. This is where this item came in handy. I unscrewed one of the cables from the metal plate and it plugged right into the 5 pin row. You have to make sure you know which is the ground and which is the power end, so consult your mother board documentation, but the cable end that plugs into the the motherboard is brown for the extra ground, black for the standard ground, and red for the hot lead. This gave the the female type a USB port I needed, and my USB hub is working great. Well done Cables To Go!
