Customer Rating: Summary: A blessing! Comment: I'm still trying to work out some of the kinks in getting the 1 remote up and running. But all in all, what a blessing to not have to use multiple remotes just to get the tv and all components on. It is a hassle to make changes or updates to the remote especially once the RF Extender is set up. But it is pretty cool when at the touch of one button the tv, dvd, & receiver all come on. Just a small note, it is not a quick and easy set up. It will take multiple hours...or days.
Customer Rating: Summary: Easy to Program Comment: This remote replaced the Universal RF-10 remote with the RF base station. The Harmony 890 was very easy to program (used the download from logitech's site). Once the software was loaded it took about 10 minutes to update and another 10 minutes to program the remote and RF extender. Everything programmed correctly on the first try.
This remote is easier to use and works much better than the RF 10. Will be selling the RF-10 on e-bay.
Customer Rating: Summary: Harmony 890 Product Review Comment: This product truly works! Getting through the setup software is not for the impatient, but once set up, this remote will control basically everything. The RF extension really helps those that have their equipment stored in a cabinet or closet. Those with Z-wave home automation equipment will benefit from this remote, but the X10 customers will need to buy an extra IR to RF controller. Optional equipment is also needed if you want to control your PS3 as Bluetooth is not supported.
Customer Rating: Summary: How electronics can save your marriage Comment: Yes, this remote control might have saved my marriage. Or at least kept things below the boiling point.
When I purchased the new flat screen LCD TV and home theater package, I thought that it would all be so easy to operate, given it was all Sony products. Ah ... wrong. I mean, *I* knew how to operate the four different remotes to get everything working, but my hubby pretty much started to lose it. Then I added AppleTV, and ... well, the fifth control was pretty much the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.
But I did my homework, and knew this was the right product for us. It took a bit to program (although once I plugged in my components, it did most of the work itself) and finesse, but now one control has taken the place of five remotes ... and one marriage remains intact.
Customer Rating: Summary: a middle class remote Comment: i use this remote to control six av components that are inside a desk,
is easy to program, and it work ok, but is not impresive technology
