Customer Rating: Summary: Great value with many features Comment: AT&T E5965C 5.8 GHz Cordless Answering System with Speakerphone Caller ID
I replaced a failing Panasonic corded phone with this compact cordless model after testing several at my local electronics store. I chose the AT&T E5965C for a number of reasons-style, the feel of the handset (solid), ease of use and functionality. A belt clip and wall mount are included.
What I got was a well made, attractive and multi-functional unit with expansion capability (up to eight handsets). Programming was easy, the standard message simple and clear enough to use without adding a custom message, even though I did add my own.
There are separate phonebooks in the handset and the base, each capable of storing up to 50 entries, and the handset screens incoming messages. Call transfer, 3-way conference calls and last number redial are additional functions of this unit.
Two lithium batteries are included (Note: directions state only lithium batteries should be used)/
Caller ID and Call Waiting are included capabilities if you subscribe to these services.
Both handset and base are programmable with features such as ringer volume, ringer melody, remote access, and caller log review.
All in all, this is an easy phone to set up and one that offers superior performance.
Recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Unreliable in the long run Comment: I loved this phone when I first got it but about a year later the problems started to crop up. We have the main base station and an extra handset and charger. The LCD on one of the handsets no longer lights up and as a result the characters are so dark that it's hard to see the caller id or to choose an entry from the phone book's memory. Now the second handset has a broken 0 zero; we can no longer anyone in our local area codes (703, 301 and 202). This past week we had an electrical storm and an extended power outage. Ever since the power was returned both handsets has a lot of white noise when you are making calls but when I use my OLD corded phone on the same phone jack and rj-11 cable, the corded phone is very clear. Now I want to throw both of them directly in the TRASH!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good phone excellent price Comment: Have had this phone for a year or more. Really like all the features in fact don't use all of them. But for the price and I need a good clear phone with awesome reception this is a great phone. I do child care so need a reliable phone with good clear reception. I can go outside and move all around my 1/2 acre yard and have no interruptions.
I recommend this phone in fact going to get one for our daugther and granddaughter.
Customer Rating: Summary: Terrible Sound, inconsistant at best Comment: I invested in this phone set 2 years ago. At first they worked fine, but after signing up for DSL I started having trouble - lots of trouble.
At times when talking on the phone all of a sudden I can't hear the person on the other end. Sometimes I get a high pitched squeal in the phone. Other times I hear steady clicking. I have the DSL filters installed on all outlets and I have had the phone company test the lines. There are so many problems with these phones I can't even name them all.
I have a Uniden 5.8Ghz phone that works perfectly and I've had that phone for 3 to 4 years, if not more. I used to trust AT&T, but I'll never buy another AT&T phone again.
Please, don't waste your money!
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent System Comment: It has everything described in the product features. The best feature I love is the call screening feature. After one ring the voice prompt announces the caller's number. If no number is showing, it will say "Unknown Caller." I also assigned personalized rings and could easily identify the caller (placed in my directory).
